Your glamping packing list is your best friend when you’re planning your next cosy getaway.
Glamping involves all the fun side of camping, but with a little added luxury. Think running water, proper beds, and toilets – although some glamping sites can be more rustic than others.
That said, even with these extra amenities, knowing what to pack is key.
You don’t want to turn up, realising you’ve packed perishable food but there’s no kitchen. Or that you’ve packed lots of canned goods but left the tin opener at home!
With our glamping packing list, you can be sure to arrive at your destination prepared and ready to relax in the beautiful outdoors.
Let’s start with some of the basics…
Glamping Packing List: The Basics
These things form the foundation of your glamping trip, from storing your essentials to sleeping comfortably.
Every glamping site is going to be different, so it’s best to turn up prepared. It also depends on what type of glamping accommodation you’re staying in, whether that’s a bell tent, a shepherds hut, or yurt as they’ll likely come with different amenities.
- Bedding and Pillow Cases – Having a good night’s sleep is crucial as you want to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to explore the next day. Always make sure you take your own bedding as this way you can be guaranteed a warm and comfortable sleep.
- Towels – Depending on what type of accommodation you’re staying in, there’ll be some form of showers on site (a shepherds hut might already have this in). But there’s not always towels provided so take your own and pack a few incase they take time drying!
- Torch or portable light – If you’re staying in a yurt or bell tent, it’s a good idea to have a torch or some form of light – especially as the night draws in.
- Camping chairs / table – You want to sit comfortably on your glamping trip, so pack a few chairs and a table if you have room as this gives you somewhere to sit and have your breakfast and take in the scenery.
- Books or games – We’re all glued to our mobile phones, but the great thing about a glamping trip is being able to slow down and enjoy the simpler things in life. Consider taking a game or a book which you can unwind with.
- Matches / lighter – These may be provided but it’s not always a given. Remember to pack some matches or a lighter incase you want to light a fire. Think marshmallows toasting for a real cosy experience!
- Bin bags – When you’re relaxing in nature, you want to keep the area clean and tidy. After all, you’re staying in nature’s habitat, so take care of it. By packing some bin bags, you can easily clear your rubbish.
Cooking Equipment
As every glamping site is different, it’s best to check what cooking amenities are available before you go.
This allows you to pack the most suitable cooking equipment so that you don’t end up taking everything but the kitchen sink!
- Cool box – You want to keep your food cool and fresh so make sure you pack a cool box for your next glamping trip. This is especially important if you’re taking perishable food as you want to keep it fresh for longer.
- Bottle opener – Don’t forget your bottle opener as you want to be able to crack open your drinks when relaxing in the beautiful outdoors.
- Washing up liquid – Keeping the area clean and tidy is key, and this involves washing your dirty dishes. Whilst this is sometimes provided it’s not a guarantee so make sure you pack this along with your other cooking essentials.
- Tea towel – Unless you want to leave your dishes to air dry, make sure you pack a tea towel. This also means you can pop the dishes away after use, again keeping the site tidy.
- Cooking oil – Whether you’ve taken your own portable stove or you’re using one already provided, make sure you pack some cooking oil. You don’t want to start planning your rustic dinner to realise you haven’t packed the basics!
- Refillable water bottle – You want to keep hydrated on your glamping trip as you might be doing a lot of exploring or walking. Packing a refillable water bottle also cuts down on the amount of plastic you’re taking and disposing of, so it’s a winner all round.
Glamping Extras
The following items aren’t a necessity on your glamping packing list, but they can definitely add to the experience!
The most important thing about your adventure is making sure you’re happy and relaxed, as that’s what the great outdoors is all about.
- Inner tent – If you’re staying in a bell tent, an inner tent is a must-have if you’re glamping with a few others. It gives you a sense of privacy as it can create separate rooms whilst leaving the front half of the tent open plan. It’s also easy to install and remove so you can use the tent with or without it.
- Cordless speaker – Be considerate of the fact you’re in nature and there might be other people trying to relax nearby, but a cordless speaker can be a great addition to your trip. Just make sure you’re enjoying it without disturbing others!
- Binoculars – Whether you’re wanting to do some bird watching, or just get a bit more up close with mature, a pair of binoculars can make the experience even more immersive.
- Marshmallows (and sticks for toasting) – Nothing feels more cosy than toasting some marshmallows on the fire! Make sure to pack some sticks too.
- Hot water bottle – If you’re staying on a colder evening, a hot water bottle can be your best friend for a cosy night’s sleep!
- Walking boots/ wellies – Depending on where you’re staying, you might want to go for a walk or a hike if you’re feeling adventurous! Taking sensible shoes such as a pair of walking boots or wellies allows you to enjoy the outdoors without ruining your clothes.
- Snacks – Your glamping adventure wouldn’t be complete without some treats to munch on! Pack a few of your favourites to keep you fueled and comfortable throughout your stay.
What to Check Before Your Glamping Stay
Before you embark on your glamping adventure, there’s a few things you should check first to ensure you’re packing the right items! This also helps you prepare for a hassle-free and enjoyable getaway.
- Amenities on offer – Check with the site what amenities and essentials are on offer at your glamping site. Some sites provide bedding or kitchen supplies, whilst other sites ask you to bring your own.
- Power and charging points – Ask if your site has access to electricity or charging points as this will be key for devices such as your mobile phone. This will help you decide if you need portable chargers.
- Site rules – Enquire about any site rules or restrictions such as quiet hours or guidelines on cooking and open flames. This allows you to feel more prepared for an enjoyable trip.
